Welcome to my photography web page. The purpose of this page is to share the beauty of God's creation with all who visit. I also hope my photos will inspire others to appreciate the beauty around them.
My passion is photographing creatures with wings. I started three or four years ago with a point and shoot camera. My objective was to photograph birds in my yard, so that I could consult a bird book and identify what I photographed. When I ran out of birds, I started photographing and identifying butterflies and dragonflies that came to my yard. Now I've become fascinated with shorebirds and am eager to travel to places where I can see them. After breaking a couple of cameras, I worked my way up to a bridge camera, a Sony Cybershot HX400V. Many of the pictures on this website were taken with this camera. In February 2017, I purchased my first DSLR camera, a Canon 7D Mark II with a 100-400mm lens. Now my goal is to re-photograph birds and butterflies with my new camera.
I was born and raised in Houston, Texas, graduated from Cy-Fair High School, and attended Stephen F. Austin State University on a tennis scholarship. After graduation, I taught English at Cy-Fair High and Midway (Waco). I have also worked as a tennis league organizer, a tennis umpire (including two stints as a linesman at the US Open tennis tournament!)and a church volunteer. I have been a mom to three dogs, threee cats and numerous fish. In addition to photography, my other interests include genealogy, cycling, and visiting America's National Parks.
